Chapter 20: Secondary Analysis of Large Survey Database: Mode of Survey Administration

The MEPS and MCBS both employ in-home interviews conducted using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) technology. However, other methods of survey administration are also used. Surveys may be conducted by phone or mail, and some use traditional "paper and pencil" for data collection. The investigator needs to be aware of and consider the method of survey administration as this can sometimes affect responses, and comparability to other surveys.
