Physicians regularly
make explicit decisions on the "drug of choice" for
a particular treatment. This case contains exercises that examine
what a hypothetical drug of choice would be for treatment of high
cholesterol--combining the measures of cost and effect into an
analysis of cost-effectiveness. The value placed on these parameters
will be explored from three perspectives: society, patient, and
third-party payer.
The screens that follow
present the patient profile, contextual information, supporting
data, and a series of problems and questions for you to answer.
It is recommended that you explore these sections in order.
