You are designing
a study of stress arousal and activation in adults (18-50 years
old) with psychophysiologic-type insomnia. You will recruit subjects
who have no major physical or mental illness or sleep disorders
like sleep apnea, periodic leg movements, or narcolepsy, do not
engage in "shift work" or have evidence of circadian disruptions,
and are not taking sleep-active or psychoactive medications. Subjects
who drink more than 250 mg of caffeine per day or have been in
a drug or alcohol abuse program in the past year will also be
excluded.
