Unfortunately, despite
recent advances in antiemetic therapy, over half of patients with
cancer who were treated with chemotherapy drugs (Latreille
et al., 1998; Morrow
et al., 1995; Roscoe
et al., 2000) continue to experience nausea and large numbers
still vomit at some point during their treatments. The graphs
below show prevalence of posttreatment nausea (Figure 4.3) and
posttreatment vomiting (Figure 4.4) in a sample of 1413 outpatients
in community-based clinical practices treated between 1987 and
1995 (Roscoe
et al., 2000).
